The Post has served as the Chartering Organization, or sponsor, for the Boy Scouts of America's Venturing Crew 1042 since its founding in 2007. Crew 42 serves the Kitsap Peninsula in Western Washington State, and has members from four different school districts and eight colleges. Blessed with an outdoor paradise that includes the many trails in the Olympic Mountains and the waterways of Puget Sound, they like to trek on foot and afloat. The Crew is completely run by the youth, from the activity planning stages through execution. Adults are only allowed to help and support, and are not permitted to lead. Don't think of them as "an older Boy Scout Troop with girls", but part of the finest and fastest-growing Scouting program in the world. The Crew is entirely governed in accordance with the Venturing Oath:
As a Venturer, I promise to do my duty to God and help strengthen America, to help others, and to seek truth, fairness, and adventure in our world.
